Keto for weight loss and epilepsy

Has anyone else done keto at a limited calorie intake and still not lose weight even when controlling seizures? My seizures have almost completely gone away but I haven’t lost any weight even at a calorie deficit. I know this should count as a huge positive, and it does, huge, but I’m frustrated and seriously cranky about the lack of weight loss

How are you measuring what you eat?
How long have you not lost weight for?
Fantastic news that it is controlling your seizures3 -
No, everyone loses with a calorie deficit. If you haven't lost or gained weight in several weeks, you're eating at maintenance.5

Are you losing inches? I have been keto since March and when I have a stall on the scale I see the improvement in inches.0 -
First of all, congrats on reducing your seizures! It's pretty amazing what keto can do for epilepsy.
Second... how are you counting your calories? Are you using a digital kitchen scale? Do you log everything, every day, or just once and a while? What is your daily calorie goal set to?0 -
If you are eating at a deficit, you will lose fat. Sometimes the scale won't reflect that for a while. Pictures and a tape measure can often tell you more.
When I last severely cut carbs, the scale went up almost 10 lbs for close to a month but I felt smaller and did not look bigger. After 5 weeks the scale eventually fell 15 lbs in a manner of 10 days or so. I lost fat but it took the scale a while to show it. Hang in there.0 -
Are you working out as well?Pay attention to inches lost. How long have you been stuck at this weight?0

That is wonderful news that your seizures have lessened so much. Are you on any medications that might hinder weight loss? I know epilepsy drugs can have a powerful effect on that.
I have a relative with uncontrolled epilepsy who I keep bugging to try a ketogenic diet, but when he was a kid, his family and doctors thought it was too difficult and now that he's an adult, his doctor still says it's too difficult and that it doesn't work for adults. They just keep rotating and recombining meds instead as we watch him become brain damaged. I can't help thinking a trial ketogenic diet isn't any more difficult than his life is now.0
