Question on Garmin VAHR and Stride length

So, I ran on the treadmill this morning and, as per the treadmill, did 5K. Now I'm trying to hit a 30 min 5K, so I ran at 6.2 mph per the treadmill, faster than I normally do. Now I couldn't run the full 30 mins so 5K took me ~35, but the distance on my watch showed as 3.9K. I know this is because I'm running at the same cadence as I would have at ~5.5 mph (where my watch and treadmill are close), but have increased my stride length. But it looks like I can only change stride length for walking.

I can edit the distance in GC, but by the time I do it's already pushed through to Strava and I can't edit it there.

It's not a big deal, but it annoys me. Does anyone have any insight?

I think this is a situation a foot pod might help with. Otherwise it has no way of knowing what your stride might be.

    Ahh.

Off to MEC. (Canada's version of REI).

    Edit.

Ahh crap. The running Dynamics pod doesn't work with the VAHR and I'm thinking of getting a Forerunner 935 in the spring.

Not the running dynamics pod, there's a "foot pod" for runners. It goes in your laces and users motion sensors to "measure" stride length in real time based on how much time your foot spends off the ground and how quickly it's moving. It's older tech and should work with your watch.

No, I know that. It's just that I'm not sure I want to buy something when I know I want the 935 and Dynamics pod in the spring.

The 935 is a good watch, although the quality of data from the wrist based HR monitor seems to vary widely between users.
