I have no idea. I've accidentally hit "start discussion" before because it's like a drop down banner that shows up randomly. But you have to enter a title and everything. Who thinks they have to enter a title to their comment?

On mobile, there's a pencil icon at the top of the thread that some might think is for commenting. When you hit it, it keeps you in the discussion, but is actually starting a new thread. To reply to the thread you're reading, you have to scroll down to the reply box. I wonder if there's a correlation between new discussions meant to be replies, and people who didn't actually read the thread? Not that it matters as much in chit-chat as in the other boards. But I digress.1 -
