Low Carb

I am thinking about starting to eat less carbs. Currently I eat way too many and I can feel the extra pounds on me. I worked with a woman who did the Keto diet. Has anyone else did it and what were your results? I have heard a lot of people say it works. The woman I worked with didn't eat very good on it (a whole package of bacon for dinner on a regular basis) so it didn't work for her.
Any one have tips on getting away from so many carbs? I crave them so I am not sure if I can just quit. Plus my husband also eats a ton of them and I don't think he will be giving them up!
Thanks!!

You don't have to try to escape from carbs. Carbs aren't evil and they don't do things to you. "Carbs" is actually just short for carbohydrates, but apparently also a new word for "junk food". If you weigh too much, you have eaten too many calories over time. To lose weight, you have to eat fewer calories over time. Carbs is one of the three nutrients that provide energy (or calories). You can cut down on calories any way you want. For any weightloss project to work, you have to do it for a long time. It's smart, if you want it to work, to find a way of eating less that is quite easy for you to stick to. If you love carby food, maybe low carb isn't the best diet for you.5

The big question is do carbs satiate you or do you feel more full with fats. And while there is nothing wrong with cutting carbs, you need to address calories. I dont cut carba because they satiate me and fats dont. Personally, i put greater focus on proteins and fiber.
But what you can do is start by reducing carbs to see how you feel. Because in the end, someone else's success may not come from the same approach as you.6 -
If reducing carbs also helps you reduce calories....that's where weight loss comes from. So you can eat all things in moderation, or choose to eliminate certain things.
Keto is a more extreme elimination (very low carb) although you are expected to make up for some calories with a higher % of fat. It's a personal choice though.......one diet isn't faster or more successful than the other. YOU still need to do the work. Pick a diet you can stick to,2 -
I have done it for a few years. It works well for me. It satiates me easier, reduces my cravings, I seem to lose just a bit faster with the same (or similar) calorie levels, i have more energy, my thinking is clearer, my insulin resistance is better, and my autoimmune issues are steadier.
My downside is I eat fewer of the junk carbs (like candy, bread or crackers). I still eat whole food carbs - just fewer.0
