How to get enough protein??

I've just started eating with intention, and am trying to follow guidelines from "If it Fits Your Macros."

I'm struggling to ear enough protein (and low enough carbs). Part of the problem is that I drink Soylent for breakfast, which isn't designed for a high-protein/low-carb diet -- but I'm not going to give it up; it's the main thing that's helped me get on track.

Today I just had turkey and string cheese for lunch, and planning on a no-heat chili (with ground beef) for dinner... and I still am not going to hit my protein goal.

Any suggestions?

(My calorie goal is 2200 for a 1 pound a week weight loss -- I have a lot of weight to lose! -- but I actually end most days around 1800.)

Add a protein source to your breakfast - I looked up Soylent, and a bottle has 20 gm protein. Add more protein to that meal - a couple of eggs, perhaps (2 large eggs = 12 g protein, 0 carbs and 140 calories). Greek yogurt, cottage cheese (that's my usual breakfast - 227g yogurt and 113 g fat free cottage cheese has 38 g protein, 14 carbs and 219 calories) snack. That gets you a bit closer probably.

What made you choose the protein goal you did?

If you have 20 g of protein with breakfast, and lunches and dinners that revolve around meat, and you are still struggling to meat your protein goal, perhaps your protein goal is too high.

But since you're undereating by 400 calories a day, you could certainly add some protein-based snacks in your day.

Drop the Soylent and get a protein powder. A lot less calories.

Why when, according to a post up-thread, OP doesn't eat all his calories as it is?

200g protein sounds like a lot. Are you an Olympic weightlifter?

Fat free cottage cheese or fromage frei, or Skyr (icelandic yoghurt).

Lean red meat, chicken/turkey/ white fish.
Make the Protein the basis of the meal and add the rest round it to make up calories and it shouldnt be too bad.

1 cup of Fairlife milk and 1 scoop of a 24 gram protein powder would be 37 grams of protein. That's really easy to fit in once a day.

How many grams of protein are you actually getting each day? The way to get enough protein is to plan to get enough protein. Right now you are simply not planning for it.
