Last year I was 224#. I am 189# now. I haven't consumed pizza, ice cream, alcohol, or cheese sticks in last month. Occasionally, i want to eat but decide not to. Why would I want to return to my old life? Why do I crave these from time to time? It's not worth it. Need encouragement to continue

I say work the foods that you love into your daily calorie goal. Giving them up 100% is the reason for the cravings.4

I went from 248 to 185 eating all of those things6

I lost the same amount of weigth - from 212 to 177 and ate all of those foods the entire time. In my opinion it's nto worth it.
There's no such thing as an old life and a new life. There's only your life. Live it well. Eat the foods you enjoy, just be wiser about it.6 -
There are easy workarounds for all of those foods, no need to eliminate them.
Pizza made with cauliflower crust (even Dominos gluten-Free veggie pizza is relatively low). Halo Top or Yasso. One glass red wine. Babybel cheese is 60 cals. You can work any of that in to a day.0 -
Because you enjoy having a slice of pizza, having a toddy, a serving of ice cream and a cheese stick or two.
You can still have these you choose not to. Perhaps these are trigger foods or you have demonized these as evil and bad foods.
In any regards, I stopped restricting like this early on, saved my dieting sanity so I could allow just about all the things I still love and enjoy. Restrictions never worked for me.4 -
I cut all treats out to start with and I am phasing them back in on milestones. I just wanted to get serious about it first. I have lost 37 out of 58 so I can trust myself to stay on track now; I didn't come this far just to come this far.1

It is hard to stay away from foods you love when you are dieting. You just need to find a balance that works for you. On the days you splurge a little do a couple extra sets of weights or a little extra cardio for a couple days to counter act it. Life would suck if you were always restricting the things you for sake of a couple pounds. It is easier to stick with realistic goals and expectations when it comes to dieting and fitness with long term goals. Best of luck! Keep up the good work!

Why did you give up these foods instead of just budgeting them? Although high in calories, pizza can be a well balanced food if not over eaten. I love pizza on occasion.....now sticking to 1 slice plus salad. I eat ice cream every night and would never give it up. Haven't tried the Halo Top yet, but love Breyer's Carb Smart fudgsickle bars with fiber. I quit nightly wine drinking because of the calories and the fact I really didn't need to drink daily, but still have a glass or two on occasion and love a homemade Margarita with fresh lime. Not sure what you mean by cheese sticks, but cheese is something I eat pretty much daily in 1 ounce portions. Even if it is bread cheese sticks, one or two sticks should be OK once in awhile. Just eat small portions and work it in to fit your deficit. Don't make this harder than it need be.1

I agree with what others have said. 227 down to 177 here, so 50 pounds later in almost a year and I have eaten everything I used to eat just in smaller quantities. Learning to stop is the hardest part. Eat two instead of four cheese sticks, for example.1

Cheese sticks? I never ate cheese sticks. I added them as a good way to get a little protein and fat at bedtime to get me thru the night with little calories.1
