PT Rant, and a question.

Ok, just went to the local commercial gym that I am a member of for a personal training assessment. I am going to start a Starting Strength program in about 2 weeks so I wanted to find a trainer who can help me with perfecting the form/technique. What a colossal waste of time. First the guy tells me that he used to train people in olympic style lifts so is excited to have a member that wants to train in that style. He then hands me off to a guy who starts tell me all about how he likes to train people and how he loves the smith machine.... the smith machine? Really? We are done here. I already told you who I've been reading and what I want to do and they specifically deride the smith machine as a waste and you want to get me on one? What a bunch of nonsense. If you can't or won't help me just say so and let me get on with my life. And why tell me about your olympic training background if A. you aren't going to be the one to train me. And B the guy you want to hand me off to *doesn't* do that style of training.
Sorry about the rant, now that I've gotten that off of my chest it's time for the promised question. Anybody know of a PT in Atlanta, GA who can in fact help me with Starting Strength/Stronglifts type of form (knowing how to listen is definitely a major plus)? The only ones I found online were all at the crossfit gyms and those are expensive and not convenient to work or home. If possible somebody who is around either exit 91 or 108 on I-85. Thanks in advance!

You may want to see if there are any listings in the newspaper, Craigs List, Yellow pages, or flyers on bulletin boards in your gym. You can also try searching American Council of Exercise's (ACE) database which offers certification for personal training. And if push comes to shove, go to a supplement shop like GNC and ask the employees there if there are any personal trainers that work there or if they know of any personal trainers in the area that have expertise in the strength program you want to do.
Good luck to you!0 -
My quest is over. Turns out the guys over there are actually much better than I gave them credit for. The coordinator just had to find me the right guy, and the first one was the wrong guy! He's not from the same book but it is the same school.0

I got to Retro in Smyrna... Love it. Meets all health, nutritional, workout (strength training etc ) and motivational levels for me.0
