I'm 33 and need some advice on safe energy booster supplements before my work outs. Are there any you've tried that you like and that works?

I use High5 Zero electrolyte tablets, all the ones I’ve tried taste nice, they’re all 0 carb and they do ones with added caffeine. I don’t know if they help much with my performance but they’ve stopped me having post gym headaches1

Caffeine. Some forms are better than others, so try a few.
5hr energy is my favorite, but they can get expensive. Caffeine pills lack the buzz (for me), but are dirt cheap. Soda does nothing for me, and I don't drink coffee.1 -
Coffee or a soda, maybe even tea, is probably the best bet. Caffeine in small amounts can be helpful, but consuming energy drinks regularly isn't good for you.1

Caffeine pills.... depending on your tolerance cut them in half or take them with coffee.1

Care to elaborate on the "not good for you part"?1 -
Safe. Caffeine. Pick the sort you like best and tolerate best.1

Unless you're exceeding Max dose by A LOT, there's not really much harmful. Other than diminishing returns.
LD50 and Caffeine toxication are real things, but relatively hard to hit.
If you have a hidden congenital heart defect that can be an issue too, but so can running.1 -

Ask what is lacking in your diet, rest/recovery and fix that before supplementing.2 -

There are an awful lot of "might"s and "could"s in that article. While I'm not one of those people who need piles of studies to prove something to me, I do need more than an article on CNN's website that basically says, "we just don't know."
Everything else was, at least to me, fairly common sense.1 -
I usually just have a cup or 2 of coffee1

Another vote for coffee. Most legal supplements are nothing more than caffeine anyway.1

Coffee is the most efficient dollar for dollar if that is an.option.
There is no need to pay more for the same result and added calories.1
