whats the Golden horseshoe? just wondered I've been to Canada many times and have never heard that phrase

It's the area roughly from Oshawa to Niagara Falls. Well, Niagara falls is one end of it, but I'm not entirely sure the other, nor how far away from Lake Ontario it extends. I'm in Toronto, myself.1
