Unexplained weight fluctuations

I have been tracking my daily calorie intake since March and successfully went from 74 kg to 67 kg (my height is 1m76). I don't do any gym exercise, but I bike about an hour every work day, walk 20-30 minutes most days, and dance now and then. So generally things are going in the right direction, but unexplained weight fluctuations (presumably through fluid retention?) are often puzzling me. My question is related to that: now and then I have a (long) weekend where I dance a lot and do not eat much. I usually lose 1 or 2 kilos during such weekends, but I usually gain them back in the days after, even when I eat at a calorie deficit! Any ideas how this is possible?

Are you eating high sodium foods? that is usually the main reason for high fluctuations and perfectly normal.
(e.g If I eat chinese takeway I'll 'gain' 2-3lbs overnight, but its just from the high sodium meal)
If you are seeing an overall trend downwards all is fine, weight fluctuates normally for lots of reasons.3 -

Normal weight fluctuations.. but if you are more active during the weekends, its going to drive your body to repair itself which drives increases to water weight.3 -
If you are dancing a lot and sweating, some of the 1 - 2 kilo losses at weekend are likely to be water loss, which is regained.0

You are normal. That’s the explanation!4

There is other stuff in your body, and that stuff increases and decreases normally in response to all sorts of things. Most fluctuations come from water weight. Your body holds onto and let's go of water for muscle repair, to flush excess sodium, to regulate blood flow, and all sorts of other situations. That's why weight loss isn't linear, and you will never be one static weight. Look at the general trend over weeks and get used to the fluctuations :drinker:3
