Hi everybody and thank you for taking the time to read this. I am a 23 year old man , 6 '3 inches and 240 lbs. I was 260 lbs in September but I have since lost the weight. My goal is to be healthier and just be happier. My first month went well as I was driven and motivated and had the hunger. I've been overweight since I was 15 and living alone I find it hard to stick to a healthy diet and without my family's support and praises I feel like I no longer have drive , that hunger . I have been unhappy with my weight for a long time and now I just don't know what to do to stick to the routine of exercise and the healthy dieting . Any advice would be muchly appreciated

That's the downfall of relying on the support of others to keep you going (you're not alone, most of us have done it because it feels good to have that). It's great to have family encouragement and support but the people who seem to have been the most successful in losing weight stuck to it because they decided to do it for them. So change your perspective. Make it about you first and foremost. Remember who you're doing this for, and why. Let that be what pushes you when you don't have that external motivation.

It's always an inside job, even if you have support.

Can you get involved in some sport or activity? Softball? Canoeing? Hiking? Volunteering for a Roller Derby team? (spitballing, here) - uh...biking? That will make it easier to lose weight and you'll make some new friends.

Your motivation should come from you. If you no longer have the drive, maybe you're doing something you don't enjoy? Something not sustainable?

For losing weight you only need a calorie deficit. Eat what you enjoy, just less of it.

Have you calculated a calorie deficit? Do you keep a food diary?

Use the MFP app to calculate a deficit to lose at the rate of 1 lb per week. Then figure out how to get the most food for your calories. It may be more than you think.

Weight loss is a skill set. There are specific things to do. Eating "healthy" is too vague to make a plan.

While exercise is good, it's not required for weight loss.
