Getting back into exercise!

I have been a yoyo in regards to my weight loss. I recently renewed my gym membership after not having used it a lot the last few months but am feeling motivated to go because when I do my eating tends to fall in line a lot easier. I used to be much more fit, lifting heavy weights and be able to do incline and etc but I have gained and am at my heaviest so I was hoping for some advice on how to slowly get back on track...any particular exercises or machines that help? I walk quite a bit but that has been it.

For weights, follow a sound beginner program. This is a good thread, and includes beginner info:

For cardio, work on building base fitness with steady state intensity or regular intervals (i.e., not HIIT) at first, using a form of cardio you personally enjoy.

Your walking is a good start, assuming you enjoy it. When you feel like you want more (now?) consider walk/run intervals or a C25K (Couch to 5K) program - there are apps for that.

If you want something else, maybe consider a group class that sounds fun. Commit to several weeks, just to get past the "new person awkwardness" and see whether you really like it. Things that are easy at the start can get boring as you continue, while those that are initially a bit overwhelming can be more fun/challenging and stay interesting longer.

    Just my opinion, though

    Best wishes for your search!
