Exercise calories

Not sure if this is a dumb question. When I created my profile I have already included the fact that I work out for 'x' no. of minutes 5 times a week blah blah and after that pops out the magic number of calories to be consumed.
Now when I actually log in the exercise, MFP adds extra food calories to ingest based on the exercise! Isnt that duplicating or am I missing something here?

No, you listed your activity level. When you log your exercise, that's different. You should eat back most (if not all) of those exercise calories.0

When you set up your profile and added in the exercise you will do that is not accounted for in your daily calorie amount. It is planned exercise and it's not added to your calorie goal until you actually add it to your exercise diary. You can go in and change your planned exercise to none and it will be the same amount of calories as if you were planning on exercising 5 days a week for 1 hrs each time.0
