Hey Guys!

I thought I’d share my story with you guys so that hopefully a few people that are in the position I was can be motivated to start losing weight.

So I am a 21 year old male, and I am 5ft 10in. I started my weight loss journey in April 2017, when I weighed 21 stone 7 pounds. It is now 8 months on and I weight 17 stone 7 pounds. I am only halfway to my goal weight of 12 stone, but I thought I’d share how I’ve lost 4 stone in 8 months.

The answer...calorie counting! MFP has been a life changer. Over the 8 months I’ve restricted my calorie intake to 1300 calories a day and ever since I’ve lost general 1.5-2lbs per week. During that time I’ve not gone to the gym once, I remain active by walking 4 miles a day to university and back and playing sport in the summer.

In terms of my diet, I’ve not made changes that I cannot keep to. After all, it’s a lifestyle change. I still eat the things I enjoy, but I’ve learned to eat in moderation. I generally don’t eat breakfast and have a lunch of around 400 calories and then have a healthy-ish dinner. I’ve been doing this 6 times a week and then I allow myself 1 day a week where I can have a takeaway and some chocolate. You’ll notice if this ‘cheat day’ is too much if you don’t see much change in the scale over a few weeks.

I’ve still got 5 stone and 7 pounds to lose to get to my goal weight, and I’ll have to add some exercise in there to help keep it ticking. But what I want to get across is that you don’t need to commit to the gym or running everyday. Start with calorie counting and you’ll notice the results. Now I am 4 stone down, I’ve gone down 2 shirt sizes and my self confidence is rising. Getting past the starting block was the hardest thing, but now I’m here, there is no way I’m going to stop!

Good luck :)
