Alcohol consumption

Does anyone have any experience with either including or excluding alcohol and spirits from your diet?

I was drinking three or four drinks each night, so naturally, as soon as I stopped, the extra calories dropped away and I was able to lose 20 lbs pretty quickly. On Thanksgiving I had a couple or martinis and a beautiful pinot noir with supper. I added up all my calories and was under 2000 for the day, but way above my max of 1200. Anyway, since I had those drinks on Thanksgiving, I've been at a weight loss plateau, even though I was consuming less than my 1200 calories each day by about 200 calories.

Short question. Does alcohol mess with your weight loss, more than just the calories. Is there some metabolic shift that occurs when your body tries to use the calories in alcohol?

It does mess with hydration and glucose. So, water weight.

Moderate drinking (one unit per day) shouldn't affect you.

I'm eating about 1-200 calories less than my allotment and I want to have a drink, but not if it's going to hijack my weight loss. My weight has started going down again.

"A" drink is not going to affect your weight loss. Work it into your calories...you'll be fine.

    THANK you for the encouragement.

I had a bottle of Roederer Estate Brut Champagne and must just count the calories and deal with the consequences. :-)
