When do you notice belly fat and jowels fat loss?

How long does it take you to show the fat around the waist to start going down as well as jowels (chubby cheeks)? Those are the two areas I accumulate fat when I gain weight.
I started at 203 on Oct 29th, this morning weighed in at 195. I know the first week is mostly water weight (for sure with me since I ate crap for months). Not sure when the actual fat burning starts. But that is 8 pounds and some of that must be burning from somewhere. I know it takes patience and I am not short term on this, with 1# per week plugged into MFP, but happy if I lose .01 to 1# a week.
I am 55 and quite active. I walk 5-6 miles every morning and lift weights (not a big lifting program, but I have a routine) that I do every other day for around 70-90 minutes.
Thank you.

I lose from my waist and face pretty quickly. But I'm a woman with a pear/hourglass shape. Where you lose first, second ... last is largely genetic.3

I opened this thread wondering what "towels" had to do with belly fat! I see you meant "jowels".
Every body is different so there's no way any of us can tell you when YOU will see results. Yes, hearing the experiences of others is helpful sometimes, but you'll just need to keep losing slowly and continue lifting.3 -
I lost in my face first and my belly last. Not sure if that is any help to you but I agree everyone is different.2

It depends on your expectations and how observant you are. High expectations and poor observation skills means it takes a long long time to "notice". Relaxed attitude and keen observation skills, clothes, and measurements means you will "notice" within a few weeks. It's all very subjective.3

^^ I spent years observing every little roll I had grow. So I was very aware when they started to shrink.
My father started at around the same weight as you. The thing is I only see him about twice a week so every time I see him it's noticeable to me, it's not very noticeable to him. Measurements will be your best bet for sure. Not sure how to measure cheeks lol pictures will help in the cheek department.0 -
The last place you lose it is also the first place you gain it back. For me it was my huge beer gut. The loss gets faster as your body starts to run out of other fat stores. When I was at my peak loss of 50 pounds I pulled up next to a friend of mine. Both of us were in trucks so he couldn't see my flat stomach. He looked at my face and said "you've lost a lot of weight". So you really lose it all over but it is more dramatic in some places. My scale also had my body fat at 14% when I was running a lot at 173 Lbs. I am now at 200 lbs. and at 23% BF. You guessed it, my gut is back too. I need to get serious and lose more or throw in the towel and buy new pants.1

Ha Eylesda! That was awesome!0

Abdominal visceral fat is generally lost pretty quickly, subcutaneous abdominal fat can be a lot slower (sometimes last off) depending on genetics.
Jowel/cheek fat, again genetics. I found when I lost face fat at your age I looked very gaunt initially. That did go and my face looked better but my jawline and neck have more excess skin- that could just be natural ageing as I am 10yr older now.
So, it will be weeks or months depending on genetics.
How did the fat come off last time you lost?
Cheers, h.0 -
I had to lose about 20 pounds before I noticed changes to my face. Take a picture of your face. In two weeks, take another. Compare. (The PicsArt app for iPhones is free and you can make a collage grid so you can see the side by side comparison). Take waist measurements. You might see some changes in about two months. Be patient!0

For me my waistline is where I lose first. I see a difference in the belly area after 5lb loss. My thighs however have hardly changed at all after 30lb loss. It’s different for everyone0

Genetically, I gained a lot in my stomach, so I had more to lose and notice there.
This is after the first 6 months:
I only really noticed a difference in my face after using MFP for 12 months, when I'd got to my goal weight and lost 80 lbs (35 kg). I didn't realise I used to have fat eyelids!
These were nice milestones to pat oneself on the back for.
But day to day, the satisfaction of sticking to my calorie limit (not eating too much or too little) kept me going.
