I have been testing this out and seem to love it. I just eat one large dinner at night. Usually portein, two veggies, starch, and a desert. No soda, only water, and nothing processed.
I have a coffee at breakfast and the caffeine actually keeps me from getting hungry till around 5pm. I head home from work and cook a nice big dinner (1500-1800 calories).
The reason I like this is because I have little self control. If I go out for breakfast I look at something healthy like yogurt or some fruit but order chicken fried steak, eggs, bacon, sausage, with a side of biscuits and gravy instead. If I go out for a nice salad or soup for lunch I end up getting a salad drenched in ranch with a side beef brisket sandwich extra mayo and a chili and two pieces of bread on side. I loathe cooking breakfast at home when my eyes have barely opened and I am not even hungry. Lunch I normally eat just because it's called lunch time - not because I am hungry. I have zero self control UNLESS OF COURSE I am not there to lose control. I have been dealing with self control issues / binge eating issues my entire adult life - I am notorius for getting a meal and then a side meal and then feeling horrible about it every time but doing it over and over and hiding it. My doctor said I do have binge eating disorder but would not prescribe new meds to control it because they are amphetamines and she doesn't support them

My dad has always been a one HUGE meal a day type of person, whereas I find myself more comfortable eating 6-8x a day. Everyone is different but its awesome you found something that works for you!!
* I wrote this last time but it didn't show up? Sorry if you see it 2x* but have you considered talk therapy to address your binge eating?2 -
Join us over here! http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/group/49-intermittent-fasting
That's specifically for intermittent fasting, but if you search I hear there's a One Meal A Day (OMAD) group as well.0 -
It's called OMAD/Warrior Diet if you're looking for terminology.
I've tried it, but I find it's very hard to get enough fruit and vegetables into my daily goal that way. It's too easy to just grab a burger and fries on my way home from work and eat all my calories in that one meal. Not very nutritional.
I settled on skipping breakfast, having a small lunch and a large dinner.2 -
No way do I do that !0

I have done similar for similar reasons. It's usually easier for me to not eat during the day and then have much more freedom with what I eat and, more importantly for me, how much I eat, later on.
The only downside to that, for me (and that's a big *FOR ME*) is that this mindset has worsened, not helped, my relationship with food. I'm much more bingy than I used to be. Again, not saying it happens to everyone all of the time, or even some people some of the time, but that's been my experience.2
