    @JessicaMcB I Fixed - Added / Adjusted your Hopeful Events List.
    I didn't even know about the RVR until recently, creates a Training Cycle conflict with The Hypothermic Half in Edmonton. Jasper HM is definitely on my 3 Peat list for 2018, not sure about future years as there are other events to consider.

    It’s supposed to stay cold for awhile, I’m going to have to figure out some layers cause I’m not attempting any long runs on the treadmill!!

    I ran 11 miles / 2+ hours on the TM once. I don't know how I did it. I just kind of zoned out and was listening to a Rock My Run mix made specifically for half marathons so the music just kept going and I just kept running and well... 11 miles.

    Lately though I try to keep it to one episode of Top Gear or The Great British Baking show. :smile: (Yes, I'm a bit of an Anglophile, don't judge.)

    @RespectTheKitty Way to go!!! Not sure what kind of pie your should choose... AACA.BE?? IDBG?

    I think "apple" since it's 3.14, it has a circumference... But then so does a cherry..... EAT BOTH!!! HAHA HA!

    I've made 520.1 miles this year.... 10mpw. Eh, I'll take it.

    If I had to choose my pie, I'd take Baker's Square's Caramel Pecan Silk Supreme. Or maybe good ol' French Silk.

    @MobyCarp Don’t think of it as getting older, think of it as gaining a new age group where you are the young one! Happy Birthday!

    It is still cold and windy here in NY visiting my husband’s family. Forced myself to get out and get my 4 mi in on the partially cleared suburban sidewalks after waiting 5 min to get across 6 lanes of traffic. Also did my strength workout and PT for the day. Headed to Pennsylvania tomorrow to visit my family and hoping to squeeze in two more longish runs (and a hike?) before the new year.

    Yay! I made my goal for December. It was cold today. The forecast said at 4:00 it would be 45°F and partly sunny. But it was 39°F and the sun never showed up. It was too cold for me, but I guess I'm one of those crazy people you see running when it is not pleasant outside. I didn't run yesterday because of the cold, and I just didn't want to not run again today.

    @mobycarp Happy Birthday!

    @amymoreorless Congrats on being cleared to run again!

    I have done this event twice. The 1st year was 2 weeks later - more spring like. Last year we had quite a few Ice patch's on the old Fire Road around the Edith Lake behind Jasper Park Lodge, that made for some un-expected tricky footing. Mainly a Road course and then onto old Fire roads around Jasper Park Lodge. Since they are old Fire Roads at one time they were paved and the pavement is crumbling back to gravel. So quite a few sections are rough and un-even. Could bite an ankle if you don't pay attention. I have a bias because we do this as one of our Club Runs where we go down as a group and stay at the same Hotel, making it a Social Weekend ;)B) . Some race it, I just run it as it is an early season event as I have no chance at a win/place medal so go out to have fun and enjoy the weekend with friends. Between my PR friends and our GP Friends we had about 20 of us terrorizing Jasper.

    COURSE OVERVIEW from the web site ( my additions in Bold )

    From the startline on Connaught Dr. ( Right in front of the Jasper Park Visitors Center ) Athletes will head Southwest along Connaught out of town ( This makes for a nice wide start as you have 2 full lanes of road to spread out ). Just past the train Overpass bridge, athletes will take a left turn onto Sleepy Hollow Road ( Service road between Hwy16 and Railroad track ). Athletes will take a right turn onto Hazel Ave and cross Hwy 16 ( Traffic Controlled by RCMP and Volunteers, Downhill from here right to Jasper Park Lodge = Uphill Finish ) to make a left turn onto Old Fort Point Road. Athletes will follow this road past Beauvert Lake ( Old Fire Road that is not maintained = crumbly rough sections ) and through the Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge grounds. After exiting the JPL grounds, athletes will continue along Old Fort Point Road ( narrow with 2 way controlled traffic ) to take a right turn onto Lake Annette Road. Athletes will follow the road and access the paved walkway ( this is where we had Ice last year - un-maintained and crumbling back into gravel trails ) that will take them around Edith Lake. Athletes will complete the loop of Edith Lake ( one little kicker hill on the backside that drops Flatlanders into a walk ) and return the same way towards the finish. After exiting the JPL grounds ( the uphill finish that destroys more Flatlanders ) and crossing HWY16, athletes will remain on Hazel Ave (after going under the rail crossing - a downhill pedestrian Ramp with a 180 turn and then a 90 turn to go under the Railway Tracks) and make a right turn onto Connaught Drive and run to the finish! Sprint after the Hwy 16 crossing uphill - under the Tracks and through the right turn onto Connaught Drive to the Finish . For a predominately Road HM it has some of the best scenery and sight lines, so I tend to let my eyes and mind wander. The Hazel/Connaught corner is a good one for family/friends to set up at the Traffic Light in the meridian in the middle of the road at the Start for a good picture with the Mountains in the background and the Athlete's stretched out along the street. You just need to keep left so you are close to them as you go by. Then they could walk downhill on Hazel to the Home hardware corner for a 2nd Photo - op as you loop back on the outbound.

    Like all events Walkers and in-experienced runners crowd to the front thinking it will help them only to be passed by all the elites and upper avg athletes.
