Improving my Protein Ice cream/smoothie recipe!
Hi guys,
I have been tinkering with protein ice cream or smoothies lately and wanted to see if you guys have any ideas to make it better! I like to eat large volumes so I try to keep it super low fat. So here is what I've been doing lately:
I use 11 fl. oz. of the low calorie Muscle Milk protein shake (20g of protein - 100 calories) as the base. It blends well and takes pretty darn good. I prefer this in comparison to almond milk and protein powder (and I think the macros are better too).
I started by adding one serving of frozen fruit which usually is from 50-70 calories (and some addition ice) and gives it a good flavor and consistency.
I've gotten bored of that and tried freezing pumpkin puree and using that. I have tinkered with adding xantham gum and also a couple tablespoons of instant sugar and fat free pudding mix.
I throw in some different flavor extracts occasionally or cocoa powder.
What other suggestions or ideas do y'all have? I'm getting bored of the same thing!!
