I do my elliptical 3-5 days a week. What do I put as my activity? Moderate ? If so it gives me way over 2,000 calories to eat.I have it set now to lightly and I get 2040. Its doable. I feel fine. And that's with my workout. But I feel like the 2lbs a week isn't going to happen. I need help. I feel like I'm failing before I really start.

  • Put your activity as sedentary. moderate is if you have a job that keeps you on your feet all day, it is your activity before exercise.

then add in your elliptical under exercise each day.

Consistently eating less has the biggest potential impact on weightloss. Exercise is good for you, but you'll have to exercise a lot to compensate for the food you could have not eaten.

MFP calculates your calorie need without exercise. Enter what you think your daily activity is, from work, school, commute, play, housework.

If you've put in your stats and set weight loss goal to max, the calorie target you get should be comfortable. In theory, you can eat anything and lose weight. But it's easiest to stick to your calorie goal if you eat a mix of foods you like, and some food from all the food groups every day.

2-3 pounds per week at your weight should be pretty realistic. Just keep in mind that it won't always show up like 2.5 pounds lost every Thursday. Weight fluctuates, normally, from day to day, with up to a couple of pounds. And that weightloss slows down as you lose weight. 1% is a pretty steady weekly good realistic goal, at least as long as you're in "overweight" or higher BMI.
