I regret never trying Popeyes. I read about it and it feels like I'm missing out.

I do love Popeyes. We have one 30 min away and they're really good. They opened one in my town a while back, and when they're not giving you dried out chicken you need a chisel to get into, they're forgetting sauces and sides. I give up. Guess it's for the best, as it doesn't really fit my goals these days. Just have to wait til I have room for the calories AND an excuse to be in New London.

I'm a big fan of kfc original recipe, but since I don't have it regularly anymore, it doesn't love me back. Popeyes doesn't have that effect.

I wish we had them here. KFC is small and more breading then meat and Mary Brown's is like licking a salt shaker

You're not missing anything. Better than KFC, but that's not saying much these days.

Oh, and I just found out that @PaulaWallaDingDong lives in my town.

I definitely think that love for Popeye's is something you have to learn in childhood. It's definitely not bad but it's not something that I would rave about.

I think Popeye's was the default take out chain for many a southern American family in the 80's and thus it's popularity with so many 40 & 50 somethings now. Personally, I actually like KFC better because I grew up with the red and white striped bucket...I didn't eat Popeye's chicken until I was well into my 20's.

Popeye's sides are a different story altogether (particularly the biscuits and rice and beans). They truly are delicious...leaps ahead of KFC.

Popeye's is delicious! On the rare occasion I indulge, no regrets. However, if you have a chicken spot nearby...

I preferred the Bojangle's chain in the southeast over Popeye's, myself. Great chicken biscuits.

    Dang, I'm hungry!

One just opened 5 minutes from my house and my husband is very excited. I guess he ate there all the time when he lived in the Middle East.

LOL! We used to live near New London, too! The last time I was down for a business trip I actually went to Popeye's for dinner. Little dicey by myself, but I survived...

Not all locations make onion rings. I don't know why.

I thought they discontinued them altogether? The one near us when I was growing up had them, but then they closed and reopened in the 90's and they were gone from the menu. I haven't found any locations close to me now that serve onion rings.

Meh. I ate it a couple times when I was in San Antonio for several months. While not as salt loaded as KFC, it was dry and kinda tasteless. Never figured out why so many rave about it.

When I used to eat fast food fried chicken, I lived in Church's country. That, plus it was way back in the 80s/90s, made it palatable per my memories surrounding it.

KFC used to be really good. I haven't had it in years. There's a Popeye's near me. It can vary depending on the chain. The one where I live now is not that good IMO. Or maybe I'm just pickier these days. Do not like their biscuits at all. The chicken is more or less tasty but it is just all too greasy. I've regretted eating there the last two times I went--at least a couple of months ago.
