Sometimes, yeah. It's easier to do this sort of thing when you're in maintenance, not so much when you're trying to lose. And at the end of the day, I'm tired! I'm not entirely sure I can or am willing to do that extra work which is why I plan ahead. But, if this works for you, then it works.

I wish it were easier to reply to each person rather than quoting each person. That would make one long post.

Anyways, even if I pre-log, I will see that whatever I'm eating will put me over on calories and I still eat it and try to work it off later. And yes, according to my heart rate monitor, I have stayed on the treadmill for 80 minutes walk/running until I burned the 900 calories I went over.
My problem is I overeat or too large portions. I don't intend to completely cut out the foods I like. I dont have the willpower to eat just the burger no fries or half of whatever the meal is. And eating heavy one day and eating light the next day or two never works out. It just repeats itself because I constantly tell myself "there's always tomorrow to get it right" but I don't.

Like I said, I pretty much know what I need to do to get on the right track. I just have to get my mind right. I was just curious how many other people eat something knowing they will go over their calorie limit for the day but tell themselves they will workout longer or an extra workout to make up for it.

Does anyone else eat poorly such a 1,000 calorie meal from McDonalds and then worked out that evening and burn 1,000 calories? Or even the other way around. Having a 500 calorie deficit at the end of the day and thinking it's ok to eat that candy bar because you have an extra 500 calories? Does that make it ok or just not as bad?
I feel like this is what I do. I'll eat unhealthy food and go over my calorie limit and think to myself "it's ok, I'll just work out an extra 30 minutes tonight"
I know what I need to do. I'm just wondering if anyone else does this.

No. That would require I run slightly more than a half marathon, and that definitely isn't happening after gorging on fast food.

It would be a half marathon for me, too. Generally speaking, if I eat over TDEE one day I'll eat under the next. If I can't comfortably cut that much in one day, I'll spread it over 2. I have been known, however, to add miles to compensate for drinking more wine than I originally budgeted. That's probably even more disordered!

ETA: anyone know text for the "cheers" emoticon?

    Try : drinker :
but without the spaces to get :drinker:

I went out to dinner and a wine tasting tonight but burning 600 cals/hr isn't that difficult for me - as long as I do the exercise before the drinking of course.

Estimated calories burned through exercise today = 1,103
Estimated calories consumed in delicious wine = enough, but not too much.
