I have very low blood pressure and my resting heart rate is 40 something, due to athletics. I make an effort to increase salt, which helps me not be so lightheaded.
Bottom line: an increase on the scale does not matter. Water retention is fleeting. Your health is very important. Listen to your doctor and ask lots of questions.0 -
The sodium will help increase your blood volume & thus your heart rate. We are missing one crucial piece of info--your current blood sodium level per labs.0

Some people do not hold onto minerals well and this includes sodium. My son is one that has to eat an incredible amount of salt to feel well and stay healthy. If your body needs it, it needs it. Do not worry about weight gain from sodium. Unless you have a clear medical reason for limiting salt, there is no reason to. Salt up, and enjoy it.0
