When was a kid I remember fighting with my brother Christmas Eve- got in trouble and decided to take a walk- got lost- realized I didn’t have a coat on and it was cold. Anyway, someone gave me a hat- took me to their home and I had hot chocolate with their family, watched TV etc. Later they took me home- I DIDNT KNOW THEM AND COULDNT FIND THEIR HOUSE TO GIVE THEM A THANK YOU CARD A FEW DAYS LATER.3

Wow, that could have ended much worse than it did. If only every place was as friendly and honest as Mayberry.2 -
My mom was really against Santa and said that if I believed in him then Santa could bring my presents and not her so I told her I didn't believe in him but I stayed up all night to see him turn up anyway.
My mom had this 3 tier nativity scene thing....you put some tea lights on the bottom tier, there was a fan on the top tier and the heat from the candles caused the 3 tiers to rotate. I thought that was super cool.
When I was real little I made my mom a pine cone with the nativity scene on top. The people were made from Q-tips and wrapped in that paper you stuff in gift bags, yarn and hot glue. It was one of her favorite things I've done.
One year we visited my grandpa in Ohio and it snowed which was cool because we don't get real snow in South Carolina. All us kids had water guns filled with yellow water so we pretended we were peeing in the snow and daring each other to eat it.....what the eff???? It was apparently hilarious and a good time.2 -

Did you know there was a man name St. Nicholas ?
From what I heard this is where they got the story of Santa and of course added silly extra stuff .
But he would give toys to kids in the village on Christmas .
I think I have heard about that at some point. History and myths are a game of telephone.1 -
Favorite holiday dish- drink- snack- story- picture- memory- movie- song etc.?
Fav. Holiday dish, I'd say Chili now a days. It's easier. When I was younger it was turkey or ham dinners Christmas day, or Xmas Eve at families houses things like cookies, cheese trays, meat tray, veggies, etc.
Fav. Drink, mostly water, sometimes a diet pop (like diet Pepsi). I don't drink alcohol and only like things like egg nog in very small doses, like one sip and I'm good.
Fav. Story, hmmm ... Could be the year we found out santa wasn't real because we were little and someone older told us. First we were crushed, Second my parents were so mad!!!
Other fav. Stories, things like stringing lights on the tree (I was little) and nobody thought to check the lights before and when you plugged it in only half the tree lit up. Or a cat climbing the tree & knocking it over. Our old dog used to always drink the water from the tree stand when we'd buy a real tree.
Fav. Memory, all the times we looked at lights riding around in the car. Also my family always had chaos and dysfunction but at least that 1-2 days a year we all seemed pretty happy.
Fav. Picture, I guess pics with Santa. Sometimes we seemed really happy, other years it looked like sheer terror on our faces.
Fav. Movie, it's a tie:
-A Christmas Story or
-Home Alone ok... 3 way tie,
-National Christmas Vacation.
Fav. Song, as dumb as it seems because the song is actually about heartbreak, but I could easily listen to Last Christmas by Wham 37 times a day.1 -

Favourite New Years memory is when we were kids my nana and granddad used to make a big deal out of it for my brother and cousins and I. They would have a party for us complete with sparkling grape juice and (I don't know what they are called) "noise makers" and those "cracker" things.
Then when we were adults my cousins, brother and I would often have a New Years parties with karaoke, Guitar Hero and lots of food and drinks.
Good times!!!1 -

Favorite Christmas food: My Nani would get cannolis with chocolate chips.
Favorite winter memory: Our back porch was a 3 feet tall concrete slab with steps on one side. There was no railing at the back. When it would snow a lot we'd jump off the porch into snow. Fun times.1
