If I were to have one kick *kitten* creole meal, what would it be?

And where should we go listen to jazz?

Any other advice?

If you've never had cajun/creole food try a sampler platter. It should have servings of jambalaya, shrimp creole, crawfish etouffee and red beans and rice. Not only could you try the most popular dishes but you can pick your fave as well.

I prefer the street jazz acts. Just something about them. If you're wandering around the French Quarter, you'll see a lot of restaurants and bars will have a live jazz band playing.

When are you visiting? I ask because it's very hot in New Orleans this time of year.

    Thank you.

Any specific restaurants I should look into?

I'm going in about a week. (too bad about the heat) Do we need a car? We are there for 4 days and parking in a hotel is ridiculously expensive (like 64$ per day) Hotels we are looking at are within walking distance to the French Quarter.

I’m jealous. Love new Orleans. The food is great. I would say, jambalaya, crawfish etoufee, fried catfish, and don’t forget a Po Boy.
I have been there twice and want to go back.

Can’t really remember the restaurants; think I went to Mothers and Johnny PoBoys. You will find a ton of great restaurants just by wandering around.

    Have a hurricane for me.

OMG I would LOVE to go back to New Orleans. As for restaurants, it just depends on what you want and how much you're willing to pay. Last time I was there we went to Acme Oyster, Mother's, and a couple other places. If I could afford the splurge I would love to try Commander's Palace.

Edit: I should probably mention that as a tourist, these are the more touristy places to go. You need to find a real native to suggest some places off the beaten path.
