Hi everyone,
I've just ordered the ChaLean DVD set on amazon and just wondered how it works?
I know you get a "plan" with it but just want to know what I'm letting myself in for? Is it like the 30 Day Shred where you have so many days on each phase?
Also - how long do the workouts last?
Any advice would be great!!

Chalean Extreme is broken down into 3 30-day circuits. Each week you do 3 strength training workouts (month 1 is called Burn, month 2 is called Push and month 3 is Lean). Month one focuses on combining an upper and lower body strength move in 10-12 reps. The last 3 moves (of the 9) are 'extreme' moves where you do a 3 rep 'super set' at the end. Month 2 focuses on one muscle group in each move in 6-8 reps. The last 6 moves of the 9, you get 'extreme' with a 3 rep super set. Month 3 focuses on combining a core move with another strength move in 10-12 reps. All 9 moves have a 3 rep super set on the end. The Circuits lasts 35-45 minutes each. In addition, you do Burn it Off! once/week which is a cardio interval workout and is 35 minutes, and Burn Intervals which is a cardio/strength training interval routine which is 45 minutes. Finally, on your 2nd rest day of the week there is a 20 minute Recharge workout which is a stertch routine.
I just finished 90-days 2 weeks ago. LOVE it. I'm doing a 20-week ChaLean Extreme hybrid (combined with Turbo Fire) now. Chalene's enthusiasm is infectious, and if you haven't checked out her YouTube channel, do so! Her Friday Mail Bags are hysterical.

Hey!
Thanks for your reply! That is exactly what I needed, the programme breakdown! Now I know what I'm putting myself up against I'm really excited about starting it!
Did you follow the diet plan that omes with it? I have read some reviews that said it's a bit like a bodybuilders diet - I was thinking I should just stick to my usual healthy eating food plan?
I'm really glad the workouts are 35-45 mins long as I like to work out in the mornings so this is ideal! I'm looking forwards to the new challenge! I love my 30 Days Shred dvd but am finding it a bit repetitive since I finished my 30 days a looooooooong time ago! Lol.
No doubt I will be calling on you when I need any other advice - just can't wait for it to be delivered now!

Would you mind posting the program by weeks? I have the DVDs, but I didn't get the routine with them. I've looked online and can't find it.0

I didn't follow her nutrition plan because I had done 3 rounds of P90X and round of Insanity, and I think that on most days, I have the nutrition wired for what works for me. I eat pretty cleanly (85-90% of the time), and I burn more calories on the day than your 'average' individual, so I had to up the calories from her recommendations. That said, I don't see it as a 'bodybuilders' nutrition plan. The plan puts you into a calorie deficit, and is fairly balanced nutritionally (though perhaps the first month could be considered a smidge higher protein than carbs, but it's by no means a no carb/high protein plan). You do add in additional calories (not much--100, each month) as the plan progresses because with your increase in lean muscle mass, your metabolism boosts as well.0 -

Thank you! I can't wait to start!0 -
I'm about to start Chalean Extreme as well, for the same reason you are. I was doing the 30 Day Shred and I needed to kick it up a notch. This seems to be a great way to do it. I'm not planning to follow any diet plan with it, I'm just gonna keep eating like I have been. I've lost 28 pounds eating like this and I don't do "diets" so hopefully I'll keep seeing the results.0

I'm in month 2 week 3 and I love it more than any workout. At first I missed 30 Day Shred but now that I see better results in this time than I did with Jillian, I'm more pumped. I will be adding another 10 min ab video plus 45 minutes of cardio just to keep the calories burning.0

Really glad to see others starting the ChaLean soon! Hopefully we can get through it together!! I can't wait for it to arrive now!!
I'm also glad to hear people say that they have had results from the programme! I am already at (ok only a few lbs away from!!) my goal weight and it's not about losing the lbs anymore - I just want a lean and toned body, even if it means staying this weight, it's just the size and appearance I am working on now
I already follow a lower carb/higher protein plan - just because that works best for me so I guess I should be ok to carry on with my current plan, I don't like the idea of having the change what I know haha. And I am thinking the extra 100 cals that the programme allows will most probably come in the form of an extra protein shake I do love them!
If anyone wants to start the ChaLean Extreme programme together please feel free to message me or add me as a friend! I am going to need as much support as possible! I'm just hoping that Mr Postman brings it ASAP!!

There's also a Chalean Extreme support thread on the Fitness message board that you should join. Even more support for the journey It's back on page 2 or 3 of posts I think...0
