Vitamins as Calories

I will do some searching on this also - but I have started taking several vitamins for my Hot Flash and also just a regular multi purpose but noticed this is adding up to 100 or more calories. Thoughts - do I count these as calories?

If they have them, yeah. That seems like a shocking amout for vitamin calories.

    Yes.

ETA: It also might help to consider WHY they have calories. Are they in gummy or other chewable or drinkable form? Go for a capsule if possible.

Fish oil will have calories regardless - it is a fat. That doesn't make it a bad thing, it just is fat and has calories even in capsule form.

This↑ Even fish oil capsules are usually only ~10 calories (most common dosage seems to be 1000mg).

100+ calories for a few vitamins is a LOT. When I logged all of mine it came to like 45 calories.

Black Cohash has 50 calories in it for two :( and I take 4 I am pretty bummed. But if it keeps the hot flashes at bay I can not give them up.

    Thanks for your help

Yes, it is. I take a whole lot of pills every day and they total 65 calories. When I took gummies, I was probably over 100 calories; and that is why I went to just normal pills and capsules.

If it has calories and it goes in your body, count it. The sugar in chewable vitamins and supplements can be pretty surprising. I took chewable calcium supplements for a while until I took them one morning before I was supposed to have fasting blood work, and my blood sugar level came back pretty high (which is not normal for me and I'm not diabetic). I switched back to standard pill supplements after that.

As midwesterner85 suggested above, you may want to look at a different delivery form, because I'm pretty sure you could to be able to get the same amount of the presumptively therapeutic compounds in black cohash without the calories. Have you tried black cohash tea?

Where are you getting that information from? Black Cohosh is just a blend of herbs...I looked up several brand on-line and they all list zero calories which means it would be anywhere from 0-5 calories per.
