I'm not 100% on this but I think you can only tell when they flower, the flowers are different.

I know. When I thought of batcactus he had the mask and a cape and now my day is complete

If her Cactus is a true one than it belongs to the Family Cactaceae. The flowers have both organs (stamen and pistil parts in the same flower) and thus the question of distinction does not arise.3 -
