Sticking to calories after exercise

Hi, I need some advice on helping me stick to my calorie limit.
I’m 30 F, 5’9” 199lb with a goal of 172lb. I’m 3 months in and I walk between 6-10km every day and do 90-120minutes of resistance work in the gym 3-4 times a week. I try to aim for 1400kcal a day but I find it incredibly difficult when Iv worked out, I’m noticing changes in my composition and clothes fitting better but with 2 stone to lose this just isn’t good enough, Iv even gained 2lb this month.
Any advice is appreciated.

Are you adjusting your calorie goal to account for your increased activity?0

MFP gives you a calorie goal expecting you to log your exercise and eat back at least some of those calories. What is your weekly goal, and how much are you actually losing per week?0 -
Iv set mfp to ‘lightly active’ and it allows me 1360kcal a day for losing 2lb a week. I log my exercise intending to eat back those cals but struggle not going over.0

And I’ve lost nothing in this time. Clothes fit better tho and I’m seeing much better muscle definition so I know my gym visits are making a difference to me just nothing at all to the scale. If I was closer to my goal I wouldn’t mind but I’m still so far off0

Think about what you just said. Your clothes fit better and you're seeing better muscle definition but the scale's not moving. What's wrong with this picture?
Don't worry. I'll tell you.
The scale lies but your body doesn't. The changes you're seeing now are way more important than a number on the scale.
But I definitely think you should up your calorie intake if you're not eating a portion of those back.1 -
If you haven't lost in 3 months you're eating close to maintenance. Check your logging for accuracy.
If I were in your position I'd do 1 lb/WK. Two is way too aggressive for your stats. It will make it much easier to sustain over time.1 -
Thanks for all the feedback x0
