If you're trying to commit to the wrong things, it's not just hard to commit, you won't get the results you want either. Eating healthier is pretty vague, and you don't lose weight, not per se. Your body uses up fat stores when you're in a consistent calorie deficit, and a calorie deficit means that you over time are eating less. What you eat doesn't matter for weight loss, but it can matter for how easy it is to eat less for a long time. See? A bit more complex, but a lot less complicated. Weight loss and gain are subject to the real and physical laws of calories in and out; we often choose to make it harder or easier - correct and neutral information is key.

    Welcome to MFP :)

That being said... Yes, eating healthier foods is important if you are trying to stay in a deficit; it's a lot easier to do with veggies and lean protein than with big macs and pizza.
