Master cleanse info

Curious to see if anyone has ever started their healthy eating habits with the master cleanse. My downfall of maintaining weight and losing it has always been too many carbs and a small treat a day. Whether it is a few pieces of candy, a pastry or ice cream I seem to have 1 of those a day. I thought that the cleanse might help take those cravings away and reset the toxins craving them a bit. But it is a very detailed cleanse and was wondering if the outcome was worth the hassle. It has before and after instructions as well as 10 days worth of fasting. The drink is a lemon, Cheyenne pepper, maple syrup and water mix for 10 days or however long u can stand it. Let me know what u think.

    What you guys say makes since. How do u get rid of the carbs though? I ha r such a difficult time getting rid of them at my meals. We never have excess money and they are expensive. We get whole grains when we can though

    Unless you have a medical reason to watch your carb intake, there's nothing wrong with them

    Why do you need to get rid of carbs? Many carbs are very nutrient-dense.

    If you DO want a lower carb diet, that has nothing to do with a cleanse. Just plan your meals around protein, vegetables (mostly carbs, but low cal, so low carb), and some source of fat. For example, when eating lower carb, I like having a 2 egg vegetable omelet with some feta cheese and maybe some cottage cheese on the side, a salad with nuts and chicken (and lots of veg) on it, with an olive oil and vinegar based dressing, and maybe some fish (or any meat or tofu or lentils/beans) with lots of vegetables cooked in olive oil for dinner. But if you aren't super low cal and want an easier pattern add in some potatoes or grains with dinner and maybe some toast or fruit with lunch. (I personally think it's just as workable for most to build meals around a protein, veg, and a starch (grains, potatoes, etc.) and use fats for cooking and accent.)

    I'm not sure why having a little chocolate or the like as you mentioned above would be a bad thing, as it should fit easily within your calories if you don't overdo it.

    I eat @ 175g carbs per day on 1500 cals. For some people cutting down on carbs helps them cut calories, but it's not necessary. I personally feel better when I eat moderate carbs. You have to find what works for you.

    I've been told by a trainer/nutritionest I need to consume fewer bc I have them in every meal

    Nothing wrong with that carbs whatsoever, so long as you're also getting enough daily protein.

    I have been reAlly good over the years about being able to maintain my weight within 10 lbs or so over the past 10 years minus kids. I just have been struggling to lose this time. Lower carbs has worked in the past, I guess that why it keeps getting in my head.

    I usually shoot for a meal setup of about 40 carbs, 30 and 30 protein and fat for macros. But I often fall short of the protein or fats.

    Not all sustainable lifestyle choices work for everyone.

    Look around you at the new hype choices these days. Keto is a huge one. This lifestyle choice can be sustainable for some. It's unlikely that the mass amount of people starting Keto though are going to find this a lifestyle they can live with. Most are just trying it because someone else did and was losing weight or they read about it somewhere.

    But If i was to try this diet as a carb lover, no different then me trying simply a low carb diet that used to be the hype diet back in the day itself, i would probably succeed for a period of time, then go back to carbs, blame myself and my efforts, not the lifestyle, because it worked for others so it obviously was just me. lol right?

    IF has been getting a lot of wind in it's sails lately too, I am also not the type that can go long periods without eating or eat small amounts on certain days. Others can.

    So basically u suggest just watching the intake closer so as not to go over the limit? And not to worry about the carbs as long as the moderation is there. I believe that is an adjust ment I can make and keep.

    In my opinion, starting off with all your options within a calorie range is like learning to ride a bike, if you can manage just fine within a calorie goal and not find yourself over eating your calorie goal due to carbs, why limit them for no reason? Dietary adjustments should only be made in those cases, carbs themselves daily within moderation are not going to change the math of calories in and calories out for fat loss. Only too many calories can do that. And that can be done by anything, carbs, fat or protein.

    U make a great point. I never really started having trouble with my weight til I started focusing on it a lot. I'm gonna try breaking down my food a little bit closer when I cook and eat and try to keep in check that I'm not just overlooking what calories I'm taking in.

    Exactly. If you're eating in a calorie deficit, you will lose weight. Now, for different people, different foods are more satisfying. I tend to do well if I hit my protein target and get plenty of carbs. I tend to eat moderate fat.

    (Which basically tells me that keto and I would probably not get along very well, but for someone who finds fat more satiating than I do, it's a perfectly valid choice.)

    Macros can be adjusted as you pay closer attention and decide what makes you feel fuller longer, so if you find days higher in protein are better, moderate carb and moderate fat then change your macros to suit those needs, if carbs are your thing, change the macros or just leave them as they are.
