I need help motivating myself into getting into a workout routine. It is my first time getting a gym membership, and it's really hard for me to go and actually work out when I feel like I don't know what I'm doing. I honestly feel ashamed sometimes and that's why I'm asking for help. I am trying to lose some weight but not a lot, my main goal is to tone myself out. I'm more looking for a flatter stomach, I want to gain upper body strength, and I'm looking into getting bigger thighs, hips, and glutes. But especially my stomach getting smaller and my glutes getting bigger. So I am here asking for help. If people can give me some workout ideas or exercises I can do to help me with that so i can make a routine out of them, Or if there is anyone that is working on the same thing that I am, if you would share your routines with me I would be more than entirely grateful because I have no idea where to start and I'm tired of looking up routines and having to pay for all of them when they don't help me. So PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE if anyone could help me out!!!!!!

Try workout DVD's or YouTube workouts at home first before going to the gym. There are many wonderful workouts for all levels of fitness and all types of workouts including cardio, weights, yoga, etc. Buy a couple of inexpensive sets of weighs for home and follow the instructions on the DVD's in the privacy of your own home. The you may feel more confident to go to the gym.1

Get a PT at the gym to show you the ropes.

Props for your gym commitment! Do your best to turn everyone else out, as they all have similar goes as yours. I would start by alternating between brisk walks and slow jogs on the treadmill. Then maybe 3 sets of around 7-8 pieces of circuit weights on whichever weight settings you feel comfortable with without making too easy on yourself. You’ll probably want to graduate from the treadmill to elliptical before too long. Consistency is key but doing beat yourself up for taking maybe 2 rear days a week. Just my suggestions. You do what works best for you.0

Your goals are counter intuitive. At one end you want to gain muscle. At the other you want to tone without losing fat? Not possible. If you want to be thinner and more defined you have to lose fat. It’s simple as that, people like to argue that, but that’s the only way. But while doing that it will be almost impossible to grow any other areas since muscle same as fat, is stored energy.
Choose what you want to do first. Slim out or bulk up and manipulate your calories accordingly. I’m assuming your female by your growth goals so check out Strong Curves. It’s about total body strength but emphasizes the butt/thighs for growth to fit that 21st century look.0 -

I would definitely follow the program link above, chose a program like Strong Curves (focus on the lower body especially glutes).. it is awesome
Also, you want to choose a goal and stick with it.
If you have weight to lose and want more definition, you want to eat at a calorie deficit to lower your bodyfat % and preserve as much muscle as you can. Your legs and glutes probably won't grow very much in this time (but they can pop and take shape)
If you are happy with your weight.. you can eat at maintenance and recomp to lose fat and build muscle at the same time, but keep in mind, this can take a really long time and requires a lot of patience

i remember that feeling but please hang in there. the best advice for countering that feeling that i ever saw was: go in with a plan, every time. that way even if you feel like bolting the entire time, you won't. because you'll have something to do and having something to do will mean that nobody looking at you would ever be able to guess how uncertain you feel.
picknig a programme is a great way to help yourself out for the first little while. also, you've got great timing if you start now, because in another month the gyms are going to be swamped with new people so a) you'll have a headstart and b) you won't feel so alone anymore. and hang in, because it's really worth it. i can almost promise that if you can commit to a month that lost feeling will start to fade out.0
