I'm not "bulking". I'm still in a deficit losing fat (50 so far!!). I do weight train as my main form of exercise. I hit my protein goals almost every day if not come very close. Today I want to stay in my calorie range but I need a protein break quite frankly. Just for today. Will I hinder my workout today or lose any "newbie gains" from just one day of low protein intake?

No. Nothing meaningful, good or bad, happens in 1 day. At least not physiologically. Mentally, maybe... but not psychically.2

What are your stats and your protein goal?0

If you are in a deficit and your target is to lose weight , not gain muscle it doesnt really matter if you eat Fat, carbs or protein.0

This.
I hit 200g minimum on days when I am tracking and even on the days when I don't try, I eat at least 150g.1 -

Actually when in deficit a larger percentage of protein should be consumed with a good lifting programme to minimise lean mass loss. Also it helps with satiation (not feeling hungry on less calories) for most people.

There's nothing wrong with have a high-carb, low-protein day. Regularly hitting your protein goals is great for many bodily functions (hair, nails, muscles, skin) but taking a 'day off' once and a while won't do any harm.0
