Any tips for fighting a cold...

I am on day 8 of a cold and am getting frustrated. Every day I think okay not feeling too bad then it seems to get worse especially at night and when I first wake up. Tried the nighttime Nyquil last night, did not help...I am lacking in sleep for sure because of the coughing, etc. I don't recall a cold lasting this long that I can remember.
The worst part of this cold is the cough and the sore throat that I had earlier in the week and still get once in a while due to coughing.
Any tips?

Have you seen a doctor? Some colds just have to run their course if they're viral however if it's bacterial, you'll need an antibiotic. Only the doctor can determine that.1

Everyone I have every made one for is hooked for cold or general comfort. There is plenty of documentation on them too. Worth checking out. I just had one earlier this week when I need to get sleepy quick.1 -
Are you sure it's not the flu?0

Oh I have never heard any negatives about them. I usually just sip whiskey or moonshine if the Blue Nyquil looking stuff doesn't work.1 -
After 5 days you should go to the doctor. It may be more than a cold. Since you've had it for 8 days you may want to go to the doctors.
Could be bronchitis, could not. See a doctor.

Just ask for a flu swab and a chest xray. If both results are negative, just wait this thing out and rest. Most people have prolonged cold symptoms because they won't call out sick from work, won't stay out of the gym, won't stop multitasking and won't rest and sleep. Not saying this is you necessarily (but is it?).
I just had a chest xray in October, my dr. sends me for one every five years so not sure I want another. I have had trouble sleeping as I am coughing at times thru the night..I feel worse at night for sure.

I have it now too and it's awful. Not sleeping well, nothing good on TV, coughing like I have TB and everything aches and throat is sore. I'm just going to lie here until it goes away, even if it takes weeks. I feel ya.
At work I have had to leave my desk when I feel that tickle in my throat and I know it is going to be a coughing fit...whenyou try to suppress a cough when it comes out it sounds like you are choking to death:) There is a Xmas meeting and lunch here today at work but I amnot going I doubt people will appreciate eating lunch beside someone who is hacking and wheezing.0 -

8 days is a while for a cold. Definitely get it checked to make sure it's not something more. TamaFlu? I think it's called, is something a doctor can prescribe if you actually have the flu. Unfortunately LOTS of things have 'flu like symptoms'

Okay, this may sound crazy. I get home, turn on the tv before watching football. Show called 'The List' was on. They had a thing on Old Home remedies. For a fever, wet socks, then you put dry socks over them. Go to sleep, they will be dry in the morning....FOR A COLD, THEY GAVE THIS REMEDY: Pour honey onto a small jar. Add chopped garlic and onions. Put in fridge overnight. In the morning, two tablespoons. Onions and garlic contain blah-blah-blah (some doctor mumbo jumbo, didn't catch it. Maybe go online to find today's TV show, or perhaps Google. Hope this helps. Feel better soon. H.0

Bedtime: my Dr. Says mix enough lemon juice to cut the phlegm, stop the coughing. Enough whiskey to help you get to sleep, and enough of your favorite sweet=honey, syrup, brown sugar, etc, to get the lemon juice and whiskey down. Water won't hurt it if you like. Warming it may help soothe a sore throat.
My mailman said jump in bed and cover up as soon as you drink it, and sweat the cold out.
I think my mailman is almost as good a Dr. As my Dr. Anyway it works for me.

Buy a gallon of orange juice and don't stop drinking it til it's gone. If you still have the cold buy another gallon. You need a lot of vitamin C when you have a cold and plenty of rest.0
