I lost it once, I Can Lose It Again

About 2 years ago I lost 23 pounds I was tracking my food and using my elliptical almost daily. I took a break this year from tracking my food and did well with maintaining my weight. I am getting married next year so I have 10 months to lose 30 lb to reach my goal but I'm finding it hard to get motivated again knowing I've done it before I can do it again. Any help tips or ideas on how to get motivated and back in the groove of tracking? Knowing I'm getting married and want to look great in my wedding dress and pictures should be enough however, maybe I'm not pushing myself hard enough?

For me, the adage “You gotta want it” rings true. Rather “you gotta need it”. You have to be in the right mindset to get where you need be. Do it for you, do it for your SO, but use what motivation you need. I have found doing it for ME, is not enough. My daughter is a great motivation though.3

I can't look at the 'big picture' in numbers, I tend to obsess about the final count and it's not a good mindset to have.
Breaking it down, that's 3lbs a month over 10 months. If you look at losing 3lbs a month instead of the overall total it's a lot easier to handle. I am sure you look at 3lbs in a month and think "That's nothing! I can do that easy!" and a thousand ways to lose just 3lbs comes to mind. Try looking at your weight loss in small chunks that are much easier to achieve than going for one big number-it's a lot easier to maintain going after 3lbs than 30.2 -
I was terrible with getting started, great once I get going. When I was finally sick of being fat and miserable I made a deal with myself....i had to get up and go to the gym every morning and eliminate all junk food for one month. No excuses. I told myself that if I didn't like it, then I'd stop after the month was up. For three weeks I was miserable and hated every second. But I took it day by day. The days rolled in to week, weeks rolled into months and I'm down 45 pounds now. Try setting a goal of healthy eating for one week, gym for one week ect...and keep your eye on the prize! It helps me a lot to think about how I felt in the past. All the times I was depressed about getting dressed up, or feeling so blah and gross. I ask myself often, what's worse? Hitting the gym today and skipping cake or feeling bad about myself when whatever event comes up. That usually does the trick for me!2

Well, you can choose to aim for losing a pound a week, or you can decide to buy a bigger wedding dress. What's it gonna be?2

Recommendations on how not to obsess over the final count? I'm finding myself in that mindset, beating myself up for going over my calorie count.1
