Being vegan where you live

I'm living in London, UK, and since being vegan past 3/4 months, I've faced a lot of silly questions and criticisms about my decision to become vegan.. People's amazement about things such as Kale, gets me scratching my head. All this got me thinking, is it like this where everyone else lives? Do feel a certain negative vibe from others when they find out I'm vegan (purely for health reasons). I'd love to hear others experiences after turning vegan.
