Protein powder

Can anyone speak to whether whey protein powder loses its nutritional value if heated up? I'd like to start adding it to my morning lattes (mixing it with the milk and then heating that mixture up) but wonder if exposure to high heat alters anything. Thanks in advance!

I have done that and no it does not lose anything but tastes pretty gross. The protein powder doesn't really dissolve or get mixed in very well, it just kind of clumps so you end up getting mouthfuls of protein goup. If you want to try it you don't lose any nutrition, but be prepared for some grossness.

ETA: protein powder mixed with iced coffee isn't bad.

Heating whey cause it to denature and clump - you still get the amino acids. I use hydrolyzed collagen in coffee as it doesn't clump...

I add my powder to hot coffee. You might try heating the milk up first and then adding the powder to prevent clumps.

Thanks all! I tried it this morning and it tasted decent. We have a small espresso machine with a frothing wand, and mixing the powder into the milk and then using the frothing wand seemed to do the trick. Clump free!
