I feel bloated after eating certain things. Is this normal?

When I eat normal small meals, I feel good. My weight loss is pretty linear and predictable. But when I eat certain things like corn dogs or chow mein or something I feel SO bloated like I just gained 10 lbs over a day. I checked my diary on fitness pal over the past few days and I stayed within my calories, but my sodium was pretty high. I ate about 4200mg of sodium over the last few days. The chow mein I ate was only 500 calories but 1500 mg of sodium by itself.

Is this the reason for my water retention?

Yes. Higher sodium intake leads to water retention.

I get bloated after eating stuff like that but then I am sensitive to gluten and have other issues that go along with that. I have to be careful with the processed foods too. A person's body is an amazing thing and each person has to find out what is best for them. Good luck to you on your fitness journey.

If your intake of sodium is high drink a lot of water, try and drink at least 100 oz a day.
