I am 5'5 and weigh 169lbs, which I am very unhappy about...Before I started the respiratory program in Sept I gained 17lbs due stress and the night snacking...Most of my clothes does not fit and being that I have a busy schedule it's hard for me to get to the gym.
I set my goal losing 1lb a week with no exercise and it gave me 1220 calories a day, which I know it will not work for me.
I really want to lose weight but I really need help to set a goal were I will be comfortable...
Can you guys please help....thank you

Change your goal to a half pound per week and fit in some exercise and your calories will increase.

It's worth bearing in mind 1220 is net, so as above, exercise and extra activity "earns" you more calories.

I am the same height as you and currently 10lbs lighter, I am also pretty sedentary for the most part out of purposeful exercise (about 45mins a day 4-5 times a week). I can lose 1lb per week at 1500-1600 calories gross. But I do generally eat a bit more and lose a bit slower for my own sanity.

Many people also choose the sedentary setting when they are nothing of the sort so it's worth making sure you are truly sedentary. And as above, lowering your goal will also get you more to eat.

I understand about the stress that comes from school. I was also in a respiratory therapy program but in my case one semester, but I ended up losing weight versus gaining weight because I wasn't eating out, and I was kinda broke at the time. If you're eating less calories than you burn you will lose weight. I agree about the losing 0.5 pounds a week, and eating the calories suggested on MFP. Reducing four portions will help you out.

Yes if you add exercise then you can eat more. If you are doing clinicals and walking a lot then you are not sedentary either. Get a pedometer maybe and see what your average steps are.
