exercise and fitbit question

hi everyone so I have a few questions and first I'm wondering about is I recently got a fitbit blaze and works perfectly fine tracking steps but when I use my spinning bike it doesn't tracks, I have did some digging and found this is normal and the only way around to it is to either wrap my fitbit around my ankle but that defeats the purpose of my fitbit since it has a HRM so I wanna make sure I'm monitoring my HR as well but I found a other solution to this by moving my arms as I'm normally walking on my spinning bike. is this smart to do? or am I tricking my fitbit and should stop doing that for good reasons?

and my last question is theres a difference between my fitbit, exercise machine and manual mfp exercise calories. on my fitbit it says I burned 240 calories in my 30m workout, my spin machine says I burned 360 calories and manually logging on MFP says I burn over 440 calories. so I'm going to say out of all the 3 my fitbit is the most accurate one of the bunch and I should defiantly eat back all the fitbit calories back correct? thank you if anyone can clear these questions for me.

Why don't you just use the "Workout tracking" function on your Fitbit Blaze? This is what I do when I'm on a stationary bike (I have a Charge HR 2, not a Blaze -- but Google shows me you should have the same function available).

I use my Fitbit to track my calories burned, not the exercise machine or the values in the MFP database. I don't think anyone can tell you which one is most accurate for you, but I've found that Fitbit is the most accurate for me.

Log food in MFP, log individual exercises if desired in Fitbit or just let the Fitbit do its job. Track for four to six weeks and adjust your Calorie intake based on results.

I would recommend reading through the first three posts in this thread on the MFP Fitbit Users group...

yes I use the mode called spinning mode when I go on my spin bike but it still doesn't tracks steps unless I'm moving my arms as normally walking fashion I just wanted to know if this method was safe and not tricking my fitbit to give me extra calories burned that I didn't deserved.

and ok so pretty much go by fitbit calories burned compare to exercise machine and MFP logging since the other 2 are overestimating.

It doesn't track steps because you're not stepping. It's working as designed. I wouldn't add extra arm movements to an exercise that doesn't usually call for them (unless you're doing it for some other reasons) because it just isn't necessary.

ok reason why cuz of stepping goals, I kind of live in a sedentary lifestyle same with my job so trying to break out of that habit and sometimes to help with that if my fitbit tells me to move every hour i would sometimes use my spin bike.

thanks for the help and a other question i forgot to mention is how long should i wait after a workout to take my band off as my heart rate is still going and burning before a shower and at the same time putting my fitbit to charge? usually once im done my workout i take it off to clean it and charge it while I go take a shower.

If meeting your step goal is important to you, then I would regularly choose exercise that is step-based. But activity is activity. If you're burning calories spinning (or with another non-step activity), it's not like your body is going to disregard that energy burn because there are no steps involved.

I don't think you have to wait any set period of time to take off your Fitbit after exercise. The exercise is done, so there is nothing else for Fitbit to record. You can can follow your normal routine.
