Starting over for the last time

Hi everyone! I have been an on and off member of MFP for about the past six years. In the beginning I had some success and lost 20 pounds! Best of all I kept the weight off for a whole year. But then...life. I’ve really struggled over the past four years to keep the weight off because I am an emotional eater, which did not go well with the stress of grad school and living abroad solo. So here I am again at my heaviest weight ever (5’8 and 235lbs). For a while I tried to just embrace body positivity because I do think it’s important to love yourself no matter what number shows in the scale. BUT I am so tired of aching knees / lethargy / feeling like I’m popping at the seams / and disliking the way my clothes fits on me.

Anyhow, I see this next year (my last in my twenties) as an opportunity to nail down some good eating habits and to resume a more active lifestyle. I’m hoping to avoid the pitfalls of getting obsessed by the number on the scale, and to simply become obsessed (in the best ways) with eating a balanced diet.

I’m looking forward to learning from the rest of you, and hopefully being in a position to one day share a success story.

Cheers to the new year
