Slightly unconventional approach here....
I have started up here before I actually start my lifestyle changes, because I want to monitor all my nasty little habits and have the info in front of me, showing me where I'm going wrong.
Plus it will be fun to look back on and say "I can't believe I ate all that rubbish !!"
I've promised myself to be absolutely honest and after just one breakfast meal, with completely awful foodstuffs, eaten at an inappropriate time for "breakfast", I can already see where the issues lie !
I will be meal prepping four days per week, lunch and dinner, possibly breakfast too, so no excuses available!
Please feel free to contact / reply etc if you feel you can support me, I can support you or even if you have any brilliant meal prep advice or recipes !
Thanks all

Welcome to MFP. That's sorta how I started the last time (5 years ago... the time that actually stuck). I logged everything without any intention of changing my habits immediately. Eventually I started making small changes that led to big weight loss. Now I've been in maintenance for several years and I feel great. You've got this! :flowerforyou:0

Well thank you, good to know I'm not on a path to nowhere with this approach. I've meal prepped for a while, so am confident of that part, just so nice to see I'm not alone. Thank you.0

Okay, so my first day logging food was an eye opener, and has upped my motivation for this process. I'm looking at today's goal and wanting to work towards it, despite not intending to start until the New Year. Truth is, I have a house full of "bad" foods to use up, and no means of grocery shopping for veggies etc until the weekend. I simply can't afford to throw away all the food I currently have.
Happy to say that actually disappoints me - I want to get on with it now! Being on this site is going to be really helpful - I am a very visual, academic person and watching numbers, having goals etc is the way for me. I'm actually planning to eat as much as humanly possible within my calorie goal. Luckily I love veggies, so hopefully I'll be able to get that "stuffed full" feeling and still be within target. And gradually, that intention will change too and I'll be able to see food as fuel, rather than a treat / comfort / event / reward / indulgence.1 -
Well done on starting, assessing goals and motivations, and logging accurately. You got this.0

the success is in your motivation and mind. YOu made the biggest achievement already by making the decision of being here. The rest will follow.
Commit to your diet for a few week (4-6 weeks ) and you will start seeing the results... the rest will be history. Once you see that these efforts pay off, it will be your best motivation to continue.
well done !1 -
to answer to one of your previous comment, make sure you enter some "long term healthy habit" and not some "short term measures" to lose weight. otherwise you will be entering the well know... yo-yo scale diet. ;-) (from a nutrition coach)0

Hiya, this is exactly what I’ve been doing for the last two weeks.. I can’t believe I consume about 1,000 calories on extras that I just pop into my mouth..
I have also realised that my willpower is crap so I have to stay clear from fast food restaurants even if I’m buying for someone else, until I can happily make sensible food choices, I am going on a social detox..lol...
I have already food prepped and my feeezer is stocked up, as I go to Dublin, Ireland for New Years. When I get back I am straight on it.
Made some breakfast oat muffins which came out divine at 200 calories each, I have something for the days I need a quick breakfast..
Happy to add me too.
Good luck on your journey and cant wait to see great progress!!!!
