Motivation just gets you started - commitment keeps you going. Eyes on the prize works for me.
I cycle a lot so December is horrible for me outside and takes away all the pleasure of riding.
So I set myself a challenging goal which committed me to many hours of training indoors - not enjoyable but hitting my goal and seeing noticeable fitness improvements is very satisfying.
Most miles in a year, PBs for 20min power, 60min power, 40km indoors.
