Saying 'no' to gimmicks

I am not new to MFP. I have used it off and on. I have also tried weight watchers, but cancelled in the past because I found it too hard to stick to it. They say you can eat anything, but you really pay for indulging. I found it too hard to stay within the points and preferred to just count calories.
Now, with the new year around the corner, weight watchers is back with fresh advertising. And my head was turned again. They have added a lot of zero point foods, which would make it easier to stick with it.
But I'm saying 'no'. While I think weight watchers is a healthy system, I am saying 'no' to any gimmick, diet, supplement, or pill. It's so tempting to try these things. But I'm not going to.
I just turned 54 and menopause has caused the dreaded weight gain, mostly in the belly. I HATE it, and I know it is also unhealthy. Very unhealthy.
I know it's harder to lose weight, as we age. I know menopause makes it tough. But that does not mean that it's ok to give up.
So I'm not going to sign up for weight watchers, online. I'm going to count my calories here. And try my best to do the things we all know we need to do, in order to shed some fat , get healthier and feel better.
Thanks , to MFP , for this outlet to express my thoughts and feelings, and maybe get some input and support. I am excited and determined for some postivie changes in my lifestyle and habits.

Good for you! Weight Watchers is a diet, but this isn't. I plan on doing this the rest of my life. Good job taking the first step!
