Happy New Year, does anyone have any ideas on how I should fast while still body building. I wanted to do Daniel Fast or liquids only, yet I am on a 6-7 day per week body building cycle until at least March. I workout very heavy sometimes twice per day. Any suggestions?

What benefits do you think the fast is going to give you?3

You can get closer to your god without fasting. A better idea would be to fuel your body adequate as a way of thanking your chosen deity for what you have. Maybe you should pick something else to fast from, something that is an actual stumbling block to you.6

Fasting is only one way of becoming more spiritually attuned. You can meditate. You don't need to fast.0

I am familiar with fasting, it's something I do with my church yearly (not looking for health benefits) I wanted to JOIN my church fast AND maintain my current workout schedule.2

I will try sugar/caffeine maybe2

Thx for the great feedback1

Fasting helps to gain muscles as it increases HGH levels.. if u spend a day in a week on full fasting .. just have green tea & black coffee... and obviously it is great way to communion with GOD12

If you’re going to do it once, it’s not a concern. If you want to fast regularly, I would reassess your plans.2

Entire post is subjectively false.
One gains muscles with adequate stress to the muscle, protien and leucine intake, and enough calories for muscle synthesis to take place.
There is no data of a tea, coffee, or a god that made muscles grow otherwise.4 -
I had to Google what a Daniel Fast was, since it's not my thing.
All I can offer is that Lyle McDonald has authored several protocols involving modified fasting and calorie restriction. In each of those, he includes very specific workout regimens - in which volume and intensity is severely reduced to minimize catabolism and help cope with the lack of nutrients/energy to support a heavy work load.
Food for thought.1 -

Hi Tee
Fasting from food for religious purposes has been done forever, however if you want to REALLY do some major damage to the "kingdom of darkness"...fast from somethings that have a "stronghold" in your life. Examples of what you can fast from:
1.) Media...the dreaded "cell" phone (use only for business or important matters only) and the "web"-- the inter"net" in general. Fast from ALL social media for a time dedicated to whatever you're looking for accomplish. Fast from T.V., movies, music, etc. Let me tell ya, nothing will help you draw closer to The Lord than "fasting" from idols in your life--especially "nice" idols that are socially acceptable, fun and are all the rage--that are "consume-consuming" the majority of your time and interest(s)--APART from The Only True and Living God and "His Way, His Truth and His Life...His Business" during this fasting time, make His Business your business. BOOM!
2.) Fasting from talking without thinking...sounds easy, but purposely choosing your words wisely and godly, honey...that will definitely build some spiritual muscles in you even more than the muscle you're building at the gym. Fast from all foolish/vain talking, mindless chatter, gossiping, complaining, bragging, etc. BOOM!
3.) Fast from holding grudges....forgive and pray for your "enemies". Go out of your way to bless those that hurt you--BOOM!
4.) Fast from spending money unnecessarily, shopping and excess for a time--fast from "window" shopping and instead, when you see people in need, give to someone else instead of yourself. If you're in debt, during this time of "fasting" fast from accumulating more debt and pay some things off instead of buying/searching for more--BOOM!
5.) Fast from focusing on you ALL the time--(this kinda goes with number 4). "Esteem others as "better" than yourself during this fast time. BOOM!
So, here's some things that will not only bless the Lord...but will have a tremendous impact on YOU and those in (and out of) your circle AND you can work out inside and out to your hearts content.
Isaiah 58:6-9 (message bible translation)
“This is the kind of fast day I’m after:
to break the chains of injustice,
get rid of exploitation in the workplace,
free the oppressed,
cancel debts.
What I’m interested in seeing you do is:
sharing your food with the hungry,
inviting the homeless poor into your homes,
putting clothes on the shivering ill-clad,
being available to your own families.
Do this and the lights will turn on,
and your lives will turn around at once.
Your righteousness will pave your way.
The God of glory will secure your passage.
Then when you pray, God will answer.
You’ll call out for help and I’ll say, ‘Here I am.’

Apparently not. But since the point of a fast is to sacrifice your wants and needs for Him, then maybe you need to decide which is more important. The prayer fast, or improving the Body temple. Either way has it's pros and cons of bringing you closer to the Lord. If the bodybuilding is for health and not pride and vanity, it is probably better to not break the plan, and use that process to worship. If the bodybuilding IS more about vanity and pride, then taking a Fast might be more meaningful. Only you and God can know which option is best for your particular circumstances.2
