A healthy diet is getting enough of all the nutrition you need every day, and not too much of anything over time. There are so many ways to do that, that it's pointless to try to list them. (Many people try, though. That's probably why you feel lost now.) Healthy eating is a healthy diet and a healthy - mindful but relaxed -attitude. There are no right stuff, and no wrong stuff. Eat what you like. When you allow yourself to eat what you want, and to enjoy it, you'll automatically eat enough, but not too much, of what you need.

For me, it's buying food as close to possible to its natural form. So nothing that's been processed. Exceptions are bread and pasta, but I don't eat them a lot. I keep frozen diced chicken breast in the freezer and use it for a lot of stir-fries, with spiralized squash and zucchini, cauliflower rice (Green Giant makes a great frozen medley), spinach, and some sesame ginger marinade. I have a family, so I plan meals for a week...

Have you ever read the book The Abs Diet? It is a really good source for what to eat and if you stick with it it really does work. Despite the title, it is not a diet but a healthy way of life.

My personal opinion is stay away from fad diets. Stick with healthy eating and portion control and some form of exercise. Track you calories honestly and you are on your way.

I cant say what you should shop for, as there is a lot that you can have. The only thing I can do is offer an example.

    Oatmeal for breakfast
Lean protein and carbs for lunch and dinner
    Veggies
    Olive oil

The key is calories in vs calories out, so if you have a snack that's not the best make sure you fit it in you calorie count for the day.
