Would this be considered high in sodium? I did not see it listed with sodium content when I entered it, it showed -0- under sodium but this was not an MFP entered food item. My wife cooked a huge pot of it two days ago and we have been eating a lot of it. Last night was the first time I added white rice. I have counted portions by the cup and for each day I have been well under my CICO number (or on the correct side of it) but I am peeing less and seem to be retaining water. Or, it is just bad timing in that "losing weight is not a linear thing" thing. My guess is that it is a high sodium food that is causing the retaining of water, and one of these days after finishing eating it I will experience the woosh effect!

It's definitely not zero sodium, but there's no way for us to know how much. Ask your wife for her recipie and then log each component separately and see what you get.

I don’t trust any entries for gumbo from mfp. They’re all over the place. Could you enter the recipe yourself in the recipe builder for a more accuate sodium/calorie count? Andouille typically has salt in it, so I would be giving the side eye to any recipe that had it and listed sodium as 0

Put the ingredients in the recipe builder and it'll tell you. You have no idea what ingredients were used in the database entries for things you or your wife cooked.

sausage has a *kitten* ton of sodium .

the chicken and sausage gumbo i made last week had 938mg of sodium per serving.

use the recipe builder and enter the recipe to find out the macros and calorie count.
