gallbladder removal and weight loss

I found out I have gallstones and will most likely need to have my gallbladder removed. I understand that a low fat diet is recommended both now, while I have gallstones and after surgery. My question is two part:
1. What is a good macronutrient ratio (carb, protein, fat) to follow for a low fat, high fiber diet?
2. If you've had your gallbladder removed, did you have weight loss or weight gain after the surgery?
3. Background info:
I've always struggled with my weight and every doctor and dietician I have seen has described my metabolism as "very stubborn and sluggish". I typically eat a lower carb, higher protein diet...when I'm behaving myself. I'm not into fast food or fried food. I do crave sweets. I don't drink alcohol at all or soda. I would describe myself as lightly active but would like to increase my activity in the future. Looking online, I've seen people say they gained lots of weight and others claimed the weight melted off. Just curious in MFP peeps and their experience. Thanks!

I had mine out a year and a half ago after my second pregnancy. No complications, easy recovery (give yourself a solid week down), no trouble losing weight after if I stick to it. I do get heartburn easily from greasy foods like bacon, fried chicken, pizza and such, so I try to practice moderation. No other issues and I felt so, so much better after surgery. I didn't even know you're not really supposed to follow a low carb diet afterwards, but I have been for a few months and feel great.
Long story short, I haven't found a correlation between my gallbladder removal and weight loss.0 -
Those questions, especially number one, need to be addressed with your doctor1

I had my gallbladder removed about 15 years ago. Having your gallbladder removed doesn't in itself cause your weight to change. If you also change your diet (and/or activity level) such that you're in a calorie deficit or calorie excess, then you'll lose or gain accordingly.0

Low fat is recommended to avoid attacks, but because fat is essential, it's important that you start eating sufficient fat again, after the operation. Whatever keeps attacks at a a minimum, is a good split now; later, MFP's default is a good starting point. Your attacks might also be triggered by other things; this is individual, variable, and very difficult to find out.
I had my gallbladder out around 17 years ago, and I've lost and gained weight before and after.
If professionals have told you that you have a stubborn and sluggish metabolism, you've been scammed. Could it be that you've misheard? Because there is no such thing. You are eating too much, over time.
If you're trying to follow a diet you can only follow for short periods, it's not a good diet for you. This is not about behaving, you don't have to eat anything in particular, you don't have to abstain from anything, and you don't have to confess anything, except admitting to yourself, that you over time, eat too many calories. You need good nutrition, and you need to eat a diet you enjoy. A varied and balanced diet ticks both boxes.0 -
I had mine out 4 or so years ago. I lost heaps of weight because pretty much all food didn't agree with me. Now I can eat anything without any issues. I eat low carb, high fat and the fat causes no problems. I think we are all different so it will just be trial and error for you until you find the right balance. Good luck!0
