gluten-free options

Hi. I’m new to the app and I am gluten-free. I did not see any option for a general profile setting for gluten-free foods, and, when I went to load my first day’s meals, the only way I saw to add, for example, “1poached egg on 1piece of buttered gluten-free toast” was to create my own recipe for it. I eat a pretty diverse selection of foods and I don’t know that I’ll take the time to create a custom recipe for every single thing I throw together. It would be easier to just have a profile setting for “gluten-free” so that when I enter something like pasta with shrimp and red sauce it automatically knows it’s gluten-free pasta. Am I missing something? (I’d rather not purchase the constantly-hyped premium version at this point, but does anyone know if dietary profile settings such as this are available in Premium?)
TIA!
TIA!

Hi! I don't know about the premium option having a "gluten-free" setting, but I doubt it. Based on my personal experience, MFP has tons of gluten-free foods in their data base, but you do have to add the items individually or create a recipe. Especially if you want to be at all accurate. I don't know how any database could know how many calories in a gluten-free pasta dish with red sauce and shrimp without it being a processed (branded) or restaurant food. It is a little time consuming to add all the ingredients yourself, but I do it all the time. It's just part of the deal of logging and tracking. Being gluten-free really doesn't add any measure of difficulty that other people don't already experience with eating a varied amount of different foods.
So, with the example that you gave with the poached egg - that is only 3 items that you have to log. The egg, the bread and the butter. I wouldn't go to the trouble of creating a recipe for that. If you eat those foods often they will show up in your frequent list of foods and you can easily add all those things with one click each (multi-add if you're using the app rather than the website).0 -
There is a fine line between easy and lazy. You have to make some effort if you want results. No program can read your mind.1

Search for the gluten free brand of pasta... they're all in there.
You don't want to use generic food items they're less accurate0
