What worked, what didn’t?

Hi my name is Arianey, and I have tried everything under the sun from weight watchers to fad diets. I am trying my fitnesspal for he first time and want to know what worked and what didn’t!?

MFP worked. Trying to "be good" didn't.0

Eating less calories than you burn works 100% of the time.

What worked:
Taking responsibility for how much I ate.
Setting an appropriate and sustainable calorie goal (it's not a race!).
Tracking my food and exercise consistently.
Adjusting my calorie goal based on long term weight trends.
Weighing myself daily to understand my normal weight fluctuations and weight trend.
Eating back exercise calories.
Eating the normal foods I like in the correct amounts.
Not stressing over holidays/vacations/special events - keeping a long term perspective.
What I discarded:
Tracking sugar, pointless to me as just a subset of carbs.
Tracking water intake, my thirst reflex works just fine.
Everyday calorie restriction (I preferred an uneven eating style to hit a weekly calorie deficit and allow more flexibility).
Macros by percentages (too restrictive, preferred to think of minimum goals for protein and fat).1
